Paddles and Palettes

As part of the annual Artown event, Immunize Nevada is hosting Paddles and Palettes: A Public Art Project to celebrate the annual Northern Nevada International Dragon Boat Festival held at the scenic Sparks Marina. This exhibit features upcycled and repurposed Dragon Boat paddles by twenty local artists, and photography by Ty C. O’Neil from This is Reno. These original works represent all ages; reflect diverse themes; made with a variety of materials. They are on exhibit from July 2 through August 17 at the Sparks Museum located at 814 Victorian Ave, and admission is free during museum hours: Tues-Fri 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and Sat 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

As part of the Sparks 3rd Thursday event, visitors are invited to meet the artists on July 18, 2019 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at an artist reception at the Sparks Museum with light beverages and snacks.

All paddles are available for bidding via online auction, and proceeds help connect thousands of Nevadans each day with reliable information, resources, and access to life-saving vaccines. At a time when the United States is experiencing the greatest number of measles cases in twenty-seven years, Immunize Nevada’s life-saving mission of promoting health and preventing disease is as crucial now as it was when founded in 1995.
