AmeriCorps Service Opportunties

Position: Community Outreach Specialist

Organization: Immunize Nevada

Summary

Immunize Nevada is a non-profit organization that works to saves lives by preventing disease and promoting health. Our mission ensures people across Nevada can access vaccines, healthcare, and other resources they need to stay healthy. Our work helps people live longer, healthier lives by protecting them against vaccine-preventable disease.

Position Description

The Immunize Nevada AmeriCorps program is designed to effectively communicate with families, seniors, persons with disabilities, veterans, socioeconomically disadvantaged, uninsured or underinsured, and school-age children, etc. on how to access immunizations and, ultimately, preventive healthcare. AmeriCorps members will address the current disparities that exist for student’s ability to access recommended and school required vaccines, often preventing them from timely enrollment in school. Our AmeriCorps program called “Healthy Futures: Reducing Immunization Disparities” aims to create healthy communities across Nevada by serving urban and rural Nevada counties.

AmeriCorps members will be providing valuable outreach, education, and resources to areas in which community members may not readily have access to healthcare resources, preventative care, and immunization information. Members will work to increase access and improved opportunities to healthcare and immunizations.
