Flu

Every year, millions of people get sick, hundreds of thousands are hospitalized, and thousands to tens of thousands of people die from flu. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends all people 6 months and older receive a yearly influenza vaccination as the first and most important step in protecting against flu viruses. The best way to prevent seasonal flu is to get vaccinated every year.

You should get a flu vaccine by the end of October. However, as long as flu viruses are circulating, vaccination should continue throughout flu season, even in January or later. Flu vaccines are offered in many locations. Even if you don’t have a regular doctor or nurse, you can get a flu vaccine somewhere else, including doctor’s offices, community clinics, health departments, retail stores, pharmacies, and student health centers, as well as by many employers and schools. Protect Yourself. 

InFLUence Others: Get Vaccinated is an informational awareness campaign promoting the importance of annual influenza vaccination throughout Nevada. Immunize Nevada and the Nevada State Immunization Program support this campaign along with many of our coalition partners, and is made possible by the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health through grants from the CDC.
