HPV Vaccines for girls and boys | Immunize Nevada

We all have dreams for the future. Whether that means going to college, traveling the world, or landing a dream job, it's safe to say that becoming a cancer patient probably isn't on the list. Cancer is preventable through routine vaccination with three doses of HPV vaccine for all 11 and 12-year-old boys and girls. Boys can be given the vaccine through the age of 21, and your girls can be given the vaccine through the age of 26. Check with your healthcare provider to make sure your child is up to date with HPV vaccination. 

Insurance and HPV Vaccine
The Affordable Care Act requires most insurance companies to cover the cost of all recommended vaccines (including flu) without charging a deductible, copayment or coinsurance. Most are free as long as they are administered by an “in-network” provider. Before you visit the doctor’s office, you may want to call your health plan to find out what coverage is available.

If you aren’t covered for the HPV vaccine, the Vaccines for Children Program may be able to help. Ask your child's doctor or health care professional if he or she is a VFC enrolled provider. If he or she is not, you may be able to take your child to one of the following health clinics to get VFC vaccines:

Public health clinic (local health department)
Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)
Rural Health Clinic (RHC)
