Immunize Nevada Welcomes Newly-Elected Officers
Immunize Nevada, statewide nonprofit widely recognized as Nevada’s trusted resource for immunizations and community health for all ages, has announced the election of key officer leadership positions to its 2016 Board of Directors. Rutu Ezhuthachan, MD, Medical Director, UnitedHealthcare was elected to serve as Chair of the Board, succeeding Doreen Begley, MS, RN, Health Coordinator, Early Head Start. In addition, Bethany Sexton, Vice President, Revenue Cycle, Renown Health, will serve as Vice-Chair; Roni Galas, RN, BSN, Division Manager, Clinical Services, Carson City Health and Human Services, was elected Secretary; and Melissa Shake, Pharm.D., Immunizations Trainer, Walgreens, was elected Treasurer.
 
Immunize Nevada’s Board of Directors consists of nine members, which includes five officers and four directors. The Board plays a critical role in ensuring that Immunize Nevada has what it needs to carry out its mission, and that it does so legally, ethically, and effectively. They work alongside a statewide team of nine staff and countless community partners to promote health and prevent disease in Nevada, and serve as powerful immunization and health champions.
 
“I am extremely pleased with the expertise, passion and commitment of our new officers,” Executive Director of Immunize Nevada, Heidi Parker, said. “It is a skilled and thoughtful group, perfect as we continue to grow and strengthen our key programs. I also look forward to Dr. Ezhuthachan’s tenure as Chair and am confident her enthusiasm and dedication will benefit communities across the Silver State.”
 
Since 1995, Immunize Nevada and its coalition partners have been the leading experts for immunizations and health across Nevada. With offices in Reno and Las Vegas, its programs deliver outreach services and clinical education to over 55,000 new parents, community members and healthcare professionals each year.
Additionally, Immunize Nevada is currently recruiting diverse leaders committed to a healthy Nevada; especially those with strategic thinking skills and expertise in marketing, finance, advocacy, and technology. Board terms are for 2 years, are renewable and begin in July. Interested leaders must be committed to Immunize Nevada's mission, philosophy and goals.
