On Monday, February 4, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Immunize Nevada and the Washoe County Health District will be offering a free flu clinic for children, 6-months old to 18 years old with Medicaid, Nevada Check-up, private insurance that doesn’t cover vaccine, uninsured and American Indian/Alaskan Native. Flu vaccinations will be available on a first come, first serve basis in limited quantities to adult and children with private insurance.
Washoe County is experiencing increased influenza activity, which can be easily prevented with a flu vaccine. Anyone can get the flu, but some people are at greater risk for serious flu-related complications, like pneumonia, that can lead to hospitalization and even death. People at greater risk include: children younger than 5 years old, but especially children younger than 2 years old; pregnant women; people with certain medical conditions like asthma, diabetes, or heart and lung disease; and people 65 years and older. It’s also important to get the vaccine if you care for anyone in one or more of these high risk groups, or for babies younger than 6 months because they are too young to get the vaccine.
This event will be held in the Shoppers Square, located on 277 E Plumb Ln. Reno, NV 89502.
