Children heading into daycare, elementary, middle school and college are required, by Nevada State Law, to be compliant and up-to-date with their immunizations.

Reno, Nev. (July 27, 2015)— Parents are encouraged to take advantage of free back-to-school immunizations for children 4 through 18 years old, along with health, safety and wellness resources from more than 30 organizations at two upcoming Give Kids a Boost: Sun Valley Health and Safety Fair events.
The first event takes place Saturday, August 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sun Valley Neighborhood Center, 115 West 6th Ave.

Immunize Nevada recently shared an important statistic from the Nevada State Division of Public and Behavioral Health: According to data from Nevada WebIZ, MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) and MMR-V (measles, mumps, rubella, varicella) vaccination coverage rates jumped 23 percent in the first quarter of 2015, compared to the same period in 2014.
Officials attribute the increase, at least in part, to the high-profile measles outbreak that was linked to Disneyland, along with reported cases in Nevada and many other states between December 28, 2014 through April 24 of this year.
As parents, we recognize the importance of reading labels. I’m just as guilty as the next person: Follow me around the grocery store during my weekly shopping trip, and you’ll see that I’m definitely one of those people who stands in the aisles reading labels of every packaged food I buy, and I quickly reject anything that has a laundry list of ingredients with a lot of unfamiliar, unpronounceable items.
But some people are now trying to apply that same “logic” to vaccines.
It is true that some vaccine ingredients could be toxic…at much higher doses. But any substance — even water or the sun — can be toxic given a large enough dose. And at a very low dose, even a highly toxic substance can be safe. Just look at Botox — one of the most toxic substances known to humanity — which is injected in small quantities into a person’s face to reduce wrinkles.
Immunize Nevada held two annual Silver Syringe Awards to recognize outstanding individuals and organizations that have gone above and beyond to protect Nevadans from vaccine-preventable diseases. The 17th Annual Silver Syringe Awards was held in conjunction with National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) and had event locations in Reno and Las Vegas.
Carson City, NV (April 23, 2015) – Carson City Health & Human Services, in partnership with Immunize Nevada, is holding a free Baby Expo & Vaccination Clinic, Saturday, April 25 from 9am to noon at 900 East Long Street, Carson City. The event is part of Nevada Infant Immunization Week and is for children (and their parents) ages 2 months to 6 years. All recommended childhood vaccines will be available.
