Presenter: Amanda (Mandy) Harris
Understanding Immunization Registries and How to Optimize Reminder/Recall Tools in Your Practice—Too often, parents do not return to their provider for recommended immunizations for their children, especially during the first few years of life. This leads to gaps in immunization coverage which negatively impacts immunization rates, decreases herd immunity and puts babies at risk for infectious diseases. Immunization registries offer providers a number of tools to help remind parents to stay on track and schedule their children’s  immunizations. This presentation will focus on utilizing immunization registries to increase immunization rates in your practice. Download Presentation HERE

Presenter: Dr. Trudy Larson, MD
Topic: The What, How and Why of Adolescent Vaccination—If you’ve ever worked with adolescents, you may know that motivating this group (and their parents) to do anything can be a challenge. Obtaining vaccinations is no different. As adolescent immunization recommendations change regularly, this group continues to miss getting vaccinated in a timely manner. In addition, both parent and adolescent perceptions about vaccinations result in delayed or denied vaccine administration putting adolescents at risk for life threatening diseases such as HPV and meningococcal meningitis. This course offers providers an update on important adolescent immunizations as well as strategies for addressing concerns. Download Presentation HERE

Presenter: Kathie Lloyd, BSN, MSN, Certified Nurse Midwife
Topic: The Vaccinator Cometh: Healthcare Providers Becoming “Super Heroes” to Protect Newborns Against Pertussis—Cocooning, an evidence-based strategy for protecting newborns against diseases like pertussis and influenza, is an effective way to protect newborns from vaccine-preventable diseases. As this practice becomes more common (and in some cases required) throughout the United States and internationally, it is increasingly apparent that healthcare workers must become leaders for advocating and implementing this important strategy. Immunization rates of healthcare workers are well below what is recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and other professional organizations. Many barriers prevent healthcare workers from cocooning including lack of knowledge and missed opportunities. In this course, “The Vaccinator” will address best strategies for how healthcare workers can become more proactive with cocooning efforts. Recently, Ms. Lloyd submitted a monograph about how to start and sustain a cocooning program per the request of the CDC and the submission is currently under review. Download Presentation HERE
