Tdap and free flu vaccine will be available for everyone 3 years old and above, including dads, moms and grandparents, while supplies last. Those with insurance should bring their cards, including Medicaid or Nevada Check-Up. Families can also get a copy of their official immunization record, questions answered and more.
Admission is free for the annual event, which provides families with a day of learning and fun provided by local vendors offering a variety of products, information and educational tools.
“The flu isn’t always considered a life-threatening illness,” said Immunize Nevada Executive Director Heidi Parker. “But in reality, between 3,000 and 49,000 people die from flu-related illnesses each year, so it’s important for everyone to get vaccinated.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends a yearly flu vaccine for everyone 6 months and older as the first and most important step in protecting against this serious disease. The flu vaccine is updated every year to combat the flu viruses that research indicates are most likely to cause illness during the upcoming season.
“Vaccines are among the most successful and cost-effective tools available for preventing disease and even death,” Parker explained. “We’re happy to be able to provide this resource for children, adults and seniors each flu season.”
