About the community meeting:

Immunize Nevada holds a general community meeting on the first Thursday of every month from 8:30 - 10am. Attendees are welcome to arrive at 8am for networking and refreshments. Each meeting features updates from the Nevada State Immunization Program, Partner News, Networking and an Educational Presentation. Don't miss this opportunity to engage with local partners, exchange ideas and learn about vaccine & health related topics.

Presentations: Community collaborations to improve health access

  • Reno: Mobile Outreach Safety Team (MOST) The speaker discussed the strategies of the Mobile Outreach Safety Team. Additionally, they also shared how to contact MOST during a crisis or to request a welfare check.
  • Las Vegas: Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada – a free clinic for the uninsured. Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada presented on their program which provides integrated health care including primary care, specialty care, social services, behavioral health, pharmacy, and dental services to the uninsured and low income in our community.

February Statewide Partner Updates and Announcements

  • The Nevada Cancer Coalition are presenting the Project ECHO series about Cancer Survivorship. It will launch on February 8 at 8AM and will meet on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month. For questions, please contact projectecho@med.unr.edu. View the Flyer here.
  • Truckee Meadows Healthy Community will be hosting their next Family Health festival on March 7, 2019 from 3:00 PM- 6:00 PM at Sparks Middle School. View the Flyer here.
  • In light of the measles outbreak in Washington and Oregon, local health departments throughout Nevada are increasing their efforts to educate the public about measles vaccine. More information about the measles can be found at https://immunizenevada.org/measles
  • The Healthy start program at the Southern Nevada Health District is a free home visit program that works to ensure babies are reaching milestones. They are currently enrolling children as young as 6 months old.
  • HealthInsight is hosting their annual Quality Conference on May 7th in Las Vegas and May 9th in Reno. This year they are hosting the “Pitch your Change” competition for a chance to win $1000 grand prize. View flyer here.
