The Story of Big Shot Bunny

Big Shot Bunny was born on a bright and sunny spring morning in a cabbage patch just north of Fallon, Nevada. His parents had learned that immunizations protect children from the possibly life threatening effects of vaccine-preventable diseases. So Big Shot Bunny visited his doctor at 2, 4, 6, 12 and 15 months of age to get his shots. As a preschooler, Big Shot Bunny needed shots at 2 years and 4 years of age.

When Big Shot Bunny was ready to start school, his parents made sure to give his immunization records to his school nurse. In Nevada, a student is required to have a current immunization record to attend school. Big Shot Bunny really enjoyed school - he met lots of friends and even learned to play soccer!

On Big Shot Bunny's 11th birthday, he asked his mother to take him for his Tdap vaccine to protect him against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis All kids need a booster dose of Td between the ages of 11 and 16 (if it has been five years or more since his or her last dose). After that, kids need a Td every ten years, and may need other shots such as flu or meningococcal disease as they get older. Getting immunized is a lifelong, life-protecting job. Be a "big shot" like Big Shot Bunny and get your shots!
